This ancient Indian hand gesture is called Garuda Mudra :: “the mystical bird”.

This beautiful mudra aids in intuition. Doing it helps blood flow and circulation. With palms facing you, spread fingers with thumbs clasped. Hold it for ten four count breaths. Inhale for the count of four, out for four. Start at lower abdomen for ten breaths, next the navel, then the solar plexus. End with hands resting on top of one another on your sternum. This is a watercolor of the Ushas Mudra. In yoga this sacred hand gesture stimulates the 2nd chakra which represents sexuality & creativity. To do it:

  • Clasp hands
  • Insert right thumb between the left thumb and index finger
  • Men insert left thumb between right thumb and index finger
